TOAD COTTAGE - THE LOCAL AREA Toad Cottage is situated in the centre of the village of Two Dales in the private courtyard of Blacksmiths Yard and just off the B5057, which takes you over the moors to Chesterfield. The village pub is just across the road, the nearest public footpath is just metres away and the village butcher, who also sells fresh vegetables, is a stroll down the road. Within a 10 minute walk you can also get to the Whitworth Park Hotel, the Post Office, a 24hour cash machine, the Spar shop & garage and the local pharmacy. The location of Toad Cottage is ideal as it is tucked away in a village location, just on the doorstep of the Peak District National Park with some wonderful and breathtaking walks straight from the door but only half a mile away from the A6, which will give you easy access to all the other areas of the Peak District. |

Two Dales - Local Butchers Two Dales The Plough Two Dales -lane across road Several beautiful walks can be accessed directly from the cottage, allowing quick and easy exploration of various local woods, dales and moorlands allowing you sightings of wild boar, deer and pheasants. Details of local walks with directions to ensure you don't get lost can be found in the cottage. Serious walkers have only a couple of fields to cross before they can walk directly into the Peak District National Park where a myraid of footpaths can lead you onto open moorland, into wooded valleys and past the famous gritstone outcrops. |

Oaker View Cottage - The Local Area Oaker View Cottage is situated in the centre of the village of Darley Bridge, which straddles the river Derwent. In the village there are two 'local' pubs, which both serve food: the Square and Compass and the nearer of the two pubs the Three Stags Heads, where Janet the landlady always gives you a warm welcome. A short 15 minutes walk will take you to the local Spar shop & garage, the Whitworth Park, 24 hours cash machine, the local pharmacy and also the steam train to Matlock and Rowsley. Oaker View Cottage also has the advantage of being in a small quiet village but only half a mile from the A6 which will give you easy access to all other areas of the Peak District. One of the many advantages of Oaker View Cottage is that it is just 30 metres from the Peak National Park. You can walk in many directions straight from the cottage via the public footpaths and never see the same place twice. |

Hall Dale Wood, Two Dales - Walks straight from the door of Toad Cottage Walk along a woodland path, admire the view down the Dales, go over the fields, along the road, back through the woods and return past the pub to the cottage. Darley Bridge Woods and into the Peak District National Park- Oaker View straight from the door Go through the courtesy gate into the woods and immediately into the Peak District National Park, where you can go in many directions on public footpaths, following along the stream to Winster or into the valley via Wensley. There are short circular walks lasting 20 minutes or much long routes lasting 2-3 hours.
